LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy in Los Alamitos
Therapy Without the Burden of Explanation
Finding a therapist is hard enough. When you identify as LGBTQ+, the search can be even more exhausting. You need a space where you don’t have to spend half your session educating your therapist on your identity, defending your relationship dynamics, or worrying about hidden judgments.
Whether you’re navigating the complexities of coming out, healing from religious trauma, or simply seeking treatment for anxiety and depression in an environment that inherently understands you, you deserve care that recognizes all aspects of who you are.
You might be seeking support to navigate:
Identity exploration or anxiety surrounding coming out to family and friends.
Healing from religious trauma or reconciling your faith with your queer identity.
Stress, adversity, or discrimination related to your LGBTQ+ status in the community.
Other mental health struggles such as depression, burnout, or relationship issues unrelated to your gender or sexuality.
How We Work Together
As a queer-affirming therapist, my goal is to provide a radically genuine and non-judgmental environment. Because of my clinical training and lived experience within the community, we can bypass the introductory lessons and get straight to the actual work of healing.
When Identity and Complex Trauma Intersect
Mental health doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Often, the chronic stress of navigating the world as a queer individual compounds other underlying mental health conditions.
I provide specialized care for LGBTQ+ individuals who are also dealing with Complex Trauma, chronic emotional dysregulation, or Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). If you’re experiencing intense emotional swings or unstable relationships, we will use specific, targeted frameworks to help you find stability. We pull from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to give you tools for immediate emotional regulation, and we use Transference-Focused Psychotherapy (TFP) to slowly untangle the deeper relational patterns keeping you stuck.
Starting the Therapy Process
Our work starts with an initial session to figure out exactly what’s happening in your day-to-day life.
Whether you’re dealing with general burnout or complex trauma tied to your identity, the intake process is guided by your pace. We won’t rush into the most painful parts of your past on day one. We’ll look at your current stressors and explore what’s getting in the way of the life you actually want to live.
By the end of these first few meetings, you’ll walk away with a clear picture of what’s driving your symptoms, and a specific plan for how we’re going to treat it.
